Gov. Bill Ritter today ordered all U.S. and Colorado flags lowered on state and federal buildings in Colorado in honor of Weld County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Brownlee. Brownlee was shot and killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, Nov. 23, following a high speed chase with a robbery suspect.Brownlee, 43, was a Deputy Sheriff in Weld County and had worked with the Sheriff’s Department for the past five years. He was the first Weld County Deputy to die in the line of duty in 70 years.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the University of Northern Colorado's Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion in Greeley. Gov. Ritter will attend the services.
